One of many thoughts that come to my mind when asked to explain how a person is able to ‘ground oneself’ is how to explain to other people about energy.
Energy levels are often taken for granted and it is this power in a person’s body that plays an important role in everything we do.
Everything in this world, trees and plants, even furniture, gives off an aura of energy. When our energy levels are high our bodies move in a lighter and bouncier way, and the positive effect then transmits itself to everyone we meet.
We live in a physical world; we need energy. It is the power of energy that causes the sun to shine and in return our trees and plants grow strong and bloom to the best of their ability.
When a person is stressed or worried, then their energy levels start to diminish, inviting negative feelings to take charge of a person’s bodily organs and sometimes causing illness.
It is not easy living in this fast moving world to have a life without stress affecting you, however when taking the time to use meditation as your secret tool, you can bring a balance to both mind and body.
Balancing your body with meditation will ground both physical and spiritual energy that lies within yourself.
A sense of calmness will prevail, stabilising the core of your body and reassuring your mental and spiritual body that you are in charge and all is well will leave you once again ready to face another day:
• Sit or stand with feet comfortably on the ground and your back straight, before closing your eyes
• Breathe naturally but a little slower, inhale deeply through the nasal passage, feeling the air filling your stomach
• Exhale through the nasal passages and release your stomach, do not push too hard, allow it to be a gentle release
• Now be aware of the soles of your feet and imagine them as being rooted to the earth, look at the roots and see there is room underneath for you to push down your stress and negativity, to be absorbed by mother Earth
• When you have done that exercise, watch how relaxed you become, this is the time to envision and invite the positive energy of Mother Earth fill your body and balance your mind and body
When you feel relaxed, slowly open up your eyes, taking care on arising, and drink a glass of cool water. Do not move too quickly from your seat, just take your time.
