How a small Yorkshire town was successful within the spiritualist movement in England

I am a practising medium who lives in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, however, as you can see from my website, my life began in Colne, Lancashire.

When I mention home I am always going to be referring to that great northern town which represents the old fashioned saying of a ‘welcome in the hills side’.

Years ago in the town of Keighley Yorkshire, the birthplace of my mother, the first local Spiritualist church opened up its doors with the same warm greeting to everyone.

It was the start of an era and Spiritualist and mediums up and down the country are still doing good work by carrying forward positive thoughts to congregations that gather in Spiritualist churches with messages from friends and loved ones.

Mediums often travel to churches without receiving anything but their travelling costs.

Private readings are proving popular, however, it can be daunting for a medium who agreed to give a private reading only to find the person has changed their mind but not had the courtesy to telephone and release the appointment.

Now, I guess you will be saying to yourself ‘well the medium would already know if they are any good at receiving messages’. I wish I had a pound for the times that old joke has surfaced.

Mediums life a normal everyday life, washing, ironing, watching television, the time they give for private readings is to help others. The disappointment is when a person decides to not turn up to the appointment which could have been given to someone else who had to be turned away.
